Deanery funded local leadership programmes
Over the last 18 months the London Deanery has been pursuing a strategy of work-based leadership development. Building on lessons learned from our ‘Darzi’ Fellowships, many other successful local leadership development projects for junior doctors and dentists have been established across the capital. A network of trust leadership ‘champions’ is in place and meets regularly; and a number of resources have been developed in support, such as training for educational supervisors, e-learning and, a web-based multisource feedback tool for leadership development - the Clinical Leadership 360.
It is against this background that we were pleased to be able to again offer funding for 2011-12 to support local initiatives for the development of clinical leadership and organisational skills for trainee doctors and dentists. We hope to be able to offer this again in 2012-13.
Applications were assessed on the following priority areas:
Priority 1: Supporting quality and safety improvement projects
Priority 2: Graded opportunities for leadership responsibility
Priority 3: Broadening understanding of systems and processes
